problems finding the time 9/9/08

This just isn't working for me. I simply can't find the time for exercise. And it's not that I'm sitting in front ofthe t.v. It's that I'm a Baby Boomer. That means I currently have 4 generations of family vying for my time and TLC. I NEED to be retired in order to fit it all in, but no, thanks to being told to put savings into investments, and watching them steadily go backward instead of forward - well, I'm one of the lucky ones that will probably be working 40 hours/week 'til the day I die. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!
Okay, thanks for letting me rant. Question: Which is more important, doing the cardio, which for me is walking about 1 1/2 miles or doing the core strength and flexibility workouts? Originally I thought I was going to be able to exercise more often, but every week, it seems to only end up being about 3 days that I actually fit in about 45 minutes worth.

My First Cardio Training

Well, I had my first cardio training yesterday for 45 mins. I wish I could push 1 hour, but I was in a rush to attend another function, so I had to cut it short 15 mins. Anyway, I was able to raise my heart rate to 145 RPM, which is good for a beginner.

I also started the 5 meal plan recommended by Chad. Eating 5 times versus just 3 times makes me full all the time, and crave less junk food.

I am looking forward to my first workout today after work!

My First Day

Yesterday was my first day and I am proud of myself. I did 40 minutes on the eliptical and then Phase 3 - Day 1 of the GHF training. I did leave out one set of shoulder exercises as I was running short of time. The program took about 40-45 minutes. I felt really energetic during the cardio portion but petered out towards the end of the weight training.

I have not yet done a shopping trip so am eating three well-balanced meals but not the five recommended. I am actually looking forward to trying this schedule out.

Today I did 42 minutes of strength training yoga and 30 of the kickboxing video provided on the site. I got a great sweat going on and felt really good through it all. So far the eating is healthy but I did not realize that plain roasted almonds had such a huge caloric value. A snack I have always enjoyed. Oh well, I know there is more out there than almonds.
