Leaving Thur., back on Mon.

Blogging really does help me stay on track. I'm leaving to serve on Team for a Christian Retreat called the "Emmaus Walk", & it's not something I can really plan ahead for. However I am taking a veggie tray into the kitchen for myself for healthy snacks instead of sugary. My weight today is 158.2. My measurements have been the same for awhile. Just basting in the 10% body fat loss I achieved from May to July. So far this year I have lost 20 lbs. It is difficult to lose the scale mentality, but the inch loss has surly helped with that. For awhile I was exercising abit much, so I decreased considerable.

Not the greatest start

kielcary@gmail.com's picture

Didn't have the greatest start yesterday.

I'd let you know the foods I ate, but I wouldn't want to tempt any of you :)

2,777 calories
96 grams of fat
346 grams of carbs
(30 grams of dietary fiber)
160 grams of protein

This isn't the worst first day of trying something new I've ever had, but it also wasn't the greatest.

I'm holding off on starting the workout until Monday, I think. I'm very, very excited to get started on it though. Until then I'm going to do some light lifting and cardio just to get my body readjusted - it's been a month or so since my last serious workout and I know I'm going to be sore after Monday!

dc.cartell@iburst.co.za's picture

Okay so week one is over and what a week. I tried all the new helpful tools and suggestion. Must say that pre cooking food in advance definetely helps. Being watching what ive eaten every day, stayed away from all junk food and sweets, my biggest sin. So far this week i have lost 4kg and almost breaking that 90kg and under goal. Being a rep sucks as have to eat cold food from cooler bag but definetely getting used to it. Enjoying having breakfast moe often and Power oats tastes alot better then i thought it would. Must say now that im eating more im getting alot hungrier but stick with my saying and i'll be fine.

Enjoying a thinner life

I can finally say I am enjoying my life, with all it's ups and downs that it has one now that is down and going to stay that way is my weight. I can actually say I am "half" the person I use to be....or almost half anyway and feel great. After reading other blogs and goals ones have set I know that losing weight is one that I can and did reach! I can't control the weather or even my seizures but my weight is one thing I do have control over and it will never have control over me again like it use to. Just for a quick fill in I started my journey before I joined or even knew about GHF but one morning when I tipped the scale at 306 or somewhere in that area and almost passed out. I stepped off and said that's it I'm losing weight even if I have just not eat but it's going...I didn't have any special diet or workout plans just stopped eating 2nd and 3rd helpings and slowly but surely it starting going down. Now 6 years later, I finally found a place to go each day and get some help, good workouts and healthy eating habits to keep the weight off. I got on the scale this morning and it was only 160, the weight I should have always been at. I'm eating breakfast again and a small meal at noon and in the evening with a snack or 2 in between and feeling good, getting good foods no junky stuff, working out at least 3 days a week without hurting myself and enjoying it.

Great Day

kielcary@gmail.com's picture

I've really had a great day so far! Food-wise I've been doing well, and I got a "warm up to really starting on Monday" work out in :)

3 sets of squats
3 sets of barbell bench press
3 sets of tricep pushdown

I also walked/ran a mile to see where I'm at (my goal is less than 10 minutes by January 28th) and I ran it it 13:15, which is actually better than I thought I'd do. Also, I could have done it faster but I haven't been running much and my shins hurt if I push too hard. Once those bones and muscles strengthen I should reach my goal easily because I feel like I'm almost there cardio wise.

1/2 Century Man - Week 8, Stress Therapy 101

gregoris@cyberbeach.net's picture

After this week's rough start, it was good to get back to the workouts.

I've had a number of jobs in my time, mostly in health care. I've come to the conclusion that when my work was physically demanding, I required mentally relaxing activities to recuperate and my mentally stressful work required physical activities to counter balance the negative affects of workplace stress. This week I require good physical workouts and I got a good one in today.

I needed to modify the weights to avoid the knee pain the squats and lunges bring me and that canceled the super-sets outlined for my legs. I'm happy with my cardio workouts so my legs are not left out. I really can't afford to hurt my knees when my job is in limbo.
