Race for the Cure

I ran the race for the cure this morning. According to the news, there were 22,000 people signed up for the race or walk. It was a zoo and a blast. I finished the 5 K in 29 minutes which is pretty much my steady state pace. My heart rate range after first 5 minutes was 142-160. I got up early and had a latte, whole wheat english muffin with 1 T Natural Peanut Butter. After the run, I had a 1/2 pint of chocolate fat free milk and a 1/4 of a bagel. Tonight will be a challenge as my husband and I are going to the JDRF gala which features a sit down dinner which I am sure will not be on the GHF diet plan. I also have been tracking on the Pro Track for both diet and exercise.

Pumpkin Run 5k - 3.1 miles 47:02. Best mile was the first mile at 12:43 which included 8 minutes of straight jogging so, I was able to break that 13 minute mark. The hard pavement sure is a lot different than a forgiving treadmill which I noticed on the anterior tibia muscles.

This was my first run since the 1/2 marathon last December in Las Vegas and the ensuing six months of rehab so, it was *really* good to be back out in the crowd.

It was rather awe-inspiring during the last 1/2 mile or so to see the top notch 10k runners blazing by at a fast & steady gait.
