11/4/08 Gaining Strength

After my run yesterday morning I went and lifted right after work, and it went pretty well.

I can really tell how much easier it's getting to do the abs exercises. I saw gains of 30% in the number of reps I can do!

I'm disappointed in my lack of strength in my upper body however. When it comes to biceps and chest, I'm feeling like a weakling. I'm excited to see where it goes in the next several weeks though.

I also got up this morning and got into the gym and did 20+ minutes of cardio - first a little on a stair climber and then a longer interval workout on the stationary bike. I decided to only run every second or third day to make sure I'm giving my shins enough time to recuperate so they don't start hurting again.

feeling tired

I did a pretty strong bodyweight workout on Saturday, turned around and did my week 2, #2 weight program on Monday and didn't have energy to complete the run that day. So, after working from 6a.m. until 2p.m without a break (I did grab a protein bar at about 9:30 and added a hard boiled egg/carrots and celery about 12:30) I went to the polls and voted and then went for a 3.5 mile run. My legs were dragging the whole way around. I need to do a Pilates class tomorrow for a break and to lengthen these old muscles. I know I haven't been getting enough calories early in the day and I'm sure I would have more energy.
