a run with my son

angieertl@msn.com's picture

I had the best workout ever today. I ran a little over 2 miles with one of my 9 year old sons. 1/2 way through the run, he told me, I love running with you, Mom! My heart soared. I love being a positive role model for my children.

This week has been pretty good! Workouts included
Monday: Strength training and 30 min cardio
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: 4 mile run
Thursday: Strength training and running on Treadmill (intervals of 60 seconds hard and 90 seconds easy X 6) to total 20 minutes
Friday: Pilates MVE Chair workout
Saturday: 30 minute Bodyweight workout/cardio workout
Sunday: 2.2 mile run with my son.

St Louis 1/2 Marathon 13.1 Miles, 3:21:43 (201.72 min) 599' Vertical, 1963 kcal

Garmin website stats on run.

The Saturday 5K I had planned never happened. I honestly thought it started at 8:30 but when I got to the track I learned it started at 8 a.m. and missed it by about 11 minutes. It was a somewhat informal run with a timer but no chips so I just headed home. Maybe I subconsciously sabotaged that one knowing about the daunting 1/2 that laid ahead the next day.

It was a pretty decent run but my shoes were a bit loose and I've got a few dandy blood blisters to prove it. I could feel my feet sliding in my shoes at the beginning and stopped to tighten them up the best I could. When I first got the shoes, I was fitted in the evening and I was told feet can swell up to 5% towards the end of the day plus - I realized today that I was wearing socks during the fitting that I don't wear during the runs. Since the run was in the morning and my running socks are thinner the shoes became too large.

going down

liz_heyman@yahoo.com's picture

this past week has been an ok week, although friday there was a anniversary banquet in church. i did choose the healthier food but dessert is always a weakness but then again i don't eat dessert during the week.
training wise i'm ok i guess, made a long and heavy shopping tour yesterday, and due to the icy roads it takes me longer to get there = more excercise.
i did lose 1 kg this week, my clothes are getting looser again :o)

1/2 Century Man, Week 9, Daylight Savings Oops

It was a difficult week for planning my workouts. I had some big projects that needed attention so there was a 4 day lapse.
I had an early supper and headed off the gym feeling good. I changed my regular routine to start with the weights. It was a good workout. My shoulder was really tight, but it loosened up eventually. It was a good burn and no pain until I looked at the clock and thought I had 20 minutes to finish my workout, shower and get out before closing. I was dissapointed in myself for taking so long to do my weights but managed to finish the weights and skipped the cardio. When I got home, my clock indicated I got home 20 minutes before closing time. They didn't change the clocks at the gym. I've got to laugh about it. It's usually me that forgets to reset the clocks.
