Hi Everyone!
I did not mean to drop off the face of the Blog panet. My daughter, who you might have read about previously is undergoing chemotherapy for kidney cancer, suffered a bowel obstruction as a result of the surgery she had this last May removing her tumor. We were ambulanced to a hopital 2 1/2 hours away from home and she received a bowel resection because part of her small intestine lost blood supply and was necrotic (basically dead tissue). She recovered ok, but just 2 days after getting home she began vomiting and we had to go back to the same hopsital. We are home now, and she is doing much better. We have been away from home for almost 3 weeks and are really glad to be back. I expect it will take a little while to get back on track because now I have a nasty cold or bronchitis. But it has to go up from here, and I can't wait to get back in the gym.

Just wanted to let everyone know we are leaving for just a couple of days. I have not had a chance to post my workouts and food, but I am still on track...and doing well. I will play catch up when I get back!
Happy Labor Day!

Day 5
NOTE: I am so excited that this is the last low-carb day for the week. I am looking forward to my higher carb days tomorrow and Sunday. I do have to be careful though because we are going on a little over-nighter on Sunday. We are planning on packing most of our meals, but we will have to eat out a couple of times...I anticipate though that after all the hard work from this week, it will be easier to make wise decisions.

Workouts
btm_23@hotmail.com – Fri, 2008 – 08 – 29 17:09
I did it! I completed my workout and it feels great! (Thank you Samantha for asking and encouraging - if I had still been sitting on my computer that probably would have pushed me out the door). I have to share with everyone what made me push so hard during my workout despite not wanting to go.
I got in my car and NPR was playing the Democratic Convention in Denver, my home city. NO - This isn't about politics - Anyway, they were playing a clip from Martin Luther King's "Dream" speech. As I sit and listened I was motivated to make this the best workout I could because I have a dream too. It may be smaller and it may not have global reaching effects, but it is my dream. It is my dream to be fit and healthy for once - for me, my family, my husband who is a soldier with many deployments under his belt, and for my toddler who is fighting cancer.

I am supposed to be in my car going to the gym to do my leg workout. I don't want to go. I am tired and hungry. I have been doing so well this week, I don't want to lose my momentum. Gotta Go. Go anyway. GET OFF THE COMPUTER! JUST GO! Ok, here I go...I am commiting to writing the follow-up in less than 1 hour from now...I will complete this workout.
So, if anyone is listening...harrass me in 1 hour...ask me if I went...Either way I will let you know how it goes. Kateri

Good Morning! After Julia convinced me that dealing with my daughter's cancer is way more difficult than eating well, I have decided to let go and trust this program. I am beginning this process this week with focus on my nutrition. I cannot go to the grocery store until tomorrow, but I have enough good food in the house to get by.
I am very excited to report that although this week's focus is nutrition, I got up at 5am this morning and went for a walk before either my daughter or husband woke up. I walked for about 30 minutes, but 21 minutes in my target heart rate of 60-70% of my max.

Hi Everyone!
I am brand new at GHF. I have to admit I am a little overwhelmed with all the information on this site. I am an avid weight lifter and I like high intensity cardio. However, due to a back injury I am going to walk for my cardio. For food I eat about 5-6 meals a day. Today is my first day back on track with my good eating habits.
Since I am new, I will post today's information tomorrow morning.
