I love learning the hard way...

Well, I made my big batch of salsa the other day and I had my tomato shortage dilema leaving it too "oniony" tasting, even after I let it sit overnight. It wasn't hot enough either. Today, I went to the grocery store to buy one tomato to dilute the salsa. Any my brother, our "head gardener" said that I didn't need to buy any peppers because there we plenty at home of all sorts. Earlier today, there was just a big jalapeno in it. I wanted a hotter pepper, like serrano or something. I'd only heard about the hotness of the habanero pepper. So, I thought I'd try it. It's a cute little orange thing. It looks far too precious to be hot. I'll post a pic, so you can see. Well, anyway, I was adding the tomato, added another jalepno and some other pepper that wasn't hot, then I added the petite habanero pepper. I like to use the tip of my tongue to determine the hotness of the pepper, they all seemed fine. Well, I washed my hands and now came time to taste the masterpiece and it tasted AWESOME. Then, I licked my lips. Bad choice. When the habanero peppers juice hit my lips, they swelled up. Turned a bright coral color. It felt like I had a second degree burn on my lips. It's crazy because my tongue was fine. Well, then I rubbed my eye. An even WORSE mistake. My eye then swelled up a bit, nothing crazy, it just felt thick. It was red and tearing very badly. My other eye itched and I chose not to rub it with my fingers, so I rubbed it with my wrist...I guess the hotness traveled from my fingers to my wrist. Now, just imagine this picture. A helpless gal with both eyes clampped shut with tears pooring out and bright swollen lips, walking around trying not to touch anything. hahaa. Oh gosh. After the interior burn went away, my lids just felt like . I washed my hands again and again, but even when I itch my nose, I can feel a burn. CRAZY! I should have used gloves! But, lil' ol' me loves learning the hard way.

Sleepless in Cali :)

Well, hello...

Just thought I'd ramble on a little tonight. Some not so good news? Today I felt slightly down. I could use the word "depressed" but I feel that that word gets thrown around thoughtlessly and sometimes in exaggeration. I definitely wasn't depressed in the literal meaning of it, however, was feeling quite down and slothly. Anyway, I didn't feel like doing a thing today. I didn't want to keep track of my meals. Didn't want to workout. I tried to go running, but quickly turned around. I picked up some weights, but shortly put them down. Now, I ate about three meals due to small appetite. I still ate good, considering I could have used the excuse to have eaten a pint of ice cream to increase my serotonin ;). Today, I had a turkey sandwich & cottage cheese, carrots, peanut butter & celery...I mean, my eating didn't get carried away, I know that for sure. Though, I'm thinking my calories were probably too low.

Yesterday & Pictures...

...I was a little tired to post my nutrition.

You like my new pic? Haha. It's not me, but I took it the other day. I'll have to post some of my work, I think some of you might like it. I used to be a photographer, so you're not confused. Anyway...

So, here it is. And just so you know, I meant to eat more. I didn't finish my usual meals; I felt full. I had class from 5pm to 7:30pm, so I prepared some cottage cheese and carrots for the road. I FORGOT them in my fridge, darnit. Where was my mind, I don't know? At least my "dinner" was prepared when I stepped in the door. :) It's okay, I drank about 3 bottles of water to help with hunger pains that I felt at around 6:30pm, haha.... and also had about three trips to the ladies room. :D

Where in the world have I been?! :P

Today was a good day. I got my workout in. Just the cardio though. I didn't have time to do weights, so I'm going to do them after this blog. My Dad and I went to the movies and instead of sneaking in candies, I snuck in a turkey sandwich and cottage cheese, and a water bottle, haha. Boys?...I suggest you invest in a man purse for times like these. :)

Today's Menu:
B- Oatmeal & Lf Cottage Cheese w/ side of Scrambles Eggs (1whole/2whites) [11am]
L- Turkey Sandwhich (100% whole wheat) & Lf Cottage Cheese [2pm]
W- Cardio
I've been bad...

Kind of...

I have not been inputting my eats into ProTrack! Therefore, I haven't been keeping good enough track of my calorie intake. And I've been kind of eating "whenever" instead of 2 to 3 hours... I really don't think I've gone over 1500 Calories, but still, I don't like being confused about it. ProTrack is one of the most awesome things and I find it so extremely helpful. Sometimes, I just get "lazy". I don't know why. I was doing so well. What I do notice (and am really glad) is that before GHF, when I'd lose track of my diets or workouts, it would take forever to get back into the rythm of things...ya know...to get back on track? But, now-a-days, I find that I get right back on track so quickly and pick up right where I left off -- it almost doesn't affect me. As part of being human, we all have our days that we don't do so well. The last couple were mine. It's to be expected. What can you really do about it but fix it, I won't get down about it. I'll just do better within these next couple weeks I have left and work a little harder to make up for it.

This year's gone by so fast...

Am I right, or am I right, or am I right...? I was in the grocery store today and saw Halloween candy out! Though, I could have just been extremely aware of the candy in my surroundings, haha. I thought it was awfully early to be putting candy out. Ya never know. I'm a procrastinator, so I buy the candy the night before that way I'm forced to buy all the nasty candys are left and I'm not as tempted to eat it :) I have a mean sweet tooth, so that strategy works well.

Today reached 107! I felt like I was working out all day due to the amounts of sweat rolling off me. Good thing I don't mind sweating :) or today would've been a horrible day.

Three months are almost up...

My Vegas vacation went well. I ironicly didn't drink or gamble. I'm not big on gambling, I'm more of a play it safe girl. Haha. I did good though. It was a little difficult to keep track of eating. We ate at weird hours, but I always ordered something healthy. So, I didn't eat every 3 hours, but I did good. I even bought my own groceries when I was there so I wouldn't cheat. There is always room for improvement.

I have a question for Julia:
The end of my three months is coming up fast. I was wondering where I go from there. I know you shouldn't carb cycle for more than three months at a time but I don't know what to do when I'm done. I don't want to go back to the old eating habits. I'm staying at 1500 calories a day and at 1900 for my high carb days. So, after this program do you sugesst staying at 1900 for a normal day? Should my workout routine stay the same. I just am scared of gaining back everything I've lost. Ya know?

Another vacation...can I do it?

I'ts 11:56pm...which means it's almost tomorrow.

What is with my schedule lately? It's all over the place. I think it's because I'm not working at the moment so I'm not forced into a schedule...ya know? I slept 'til 1 today! ONE! Everyday is like a Friday night. I need to get back to normal like it was last week (for the most part). But anyway, I'm up washing clothes and packing. Leave it to me to procrastinate. I'm the best at that. I seem to work well under pressure. I also have to prepare some food for the road. I'm going to Vegas to visit family. I'm traveling alone and I refuse to get fast food, yuck. I think I'm going to take a lot of water and a few protein bars. I try not to eat those except when working out or in a hurry to get a 'real' meal. I make sure it's before 3pm, too, because it has a bit of carbs. Not the kind I should have anyway. It'll be about 7-9 hour trip depending on stops and traffic and all that. So, I just think protein bars will come in handy when I'm in the middle of the Mohavi desert, haha. I plan on making breakfast in the morning then pack a turkey sandwich with cottage cheese for meal two, meal three will be a protein bar with water, then 4 will be cottage cheese and carrots, hopefully by then I'll be in Vegas. My family that I'm staying with eat healthy so I know I'll stick to my program. I even printed out my workouts. I'm not taking a vacation from GHF again. I learned my lesson. And I'm better prepared this time. I'll be back Monday night. So, I'm thinking I wont blog until then. Who knows, though. I might have absolutely nothing to do in Vegas, right?

I really don't feel like blogging...just sleeping. I've had the hardest time getting up in the morning. I was doing fine for a while. I'd get up at 9 and eat by 9:30. Lately I'm lucky if I'm up by 10:30. So, I eat at 11...now my meals are off. So, I try not to each my starchy meals after 3. But anyway, I missed another meal today. So my calories are about 400 calories off, which is breakfast... so yeah.

I'm just going to give my calories for the day, it's 9:45pm and I'm about to pass out.

Regaurless of me missing my meal I ate well today.

Can you say sore?

I can! I'm so incredibly sore. And not being sore yesterday, I made an hour Pilates appointment for today! My friend's little brother works at my gym and he's trying to get certified so he can teach his own Pilates class and he needs trainee hours. I thought, "Why not?", so I signed up. He made me feel so "manly". He told me that I have over developed quads, I stick my chest out too much(it's a girl thing), my left calve is over worked, my traps are lop sided, my arch is flatter in my left foot, I have a "bulky" muscle type, My left knee is hyper extended, and I slouch...I mean, he just made me feel so not pretty and/or dainty, haha. It's okay, though, I'm a tough cookie. If anything, it just made me laugh. But all I was really thinking about was how interesting this workout would be due to my soreness. I was so sore that I couldn't really feel if my muscles were being were worked. He'd ask me, "Okay, do you feel it working in your hamstring?" and I just looked at him clueless, I had no idea because in every movement I felt soreness, haha. I mean, I don't think I worked myself out THAT hard yesterday, I just wasn't well-rested to do Pilates today. But, I did my best. He probably thought I was a weakling. :]

Then I ended up hitting for a while. Went to do some weights and more carido on the machines cardio(40 min). My friend, Tony, showed me some really great workouts with the stability ball, so I'll be feeling it tomorrow.

I feel like dancing...

Who's up for it? I'm not much of a dancer, usually. Though, I do have my moments when I like to boogy. Any takers? I just came home from my friend Jessica's(the one who lives in SF) boyfriend's parent's house. It's out in the country and a nice little drive home of about 10 minutes. Well, I have a convertible (totally nothing fancy) and was driving with my top down...there's just something about a great song playing at the right moment, hair blowing everywhere, breathing in fresh air, and a view of the whole sky lit with stars that makes a gal wanna dance, haha. Anyway... enough of that.

My girl friend Jessica lives in San Francisco and she's down for the week/weekend. I'm excited. The only thing, she loves wine and drinking margaritas. I don't mind them, infact, when I do drink I generally lean towards wine. Her bf's parents actually make their own wine, so it's everywhere. But, I'm really trying to make wise decisions. Any suggestion on what wines to lean towards if I decide to have any? Are margaritas okay? I mean, I really don't plan on drinking alot, I'll be driving. But, I just wanna be smart about it.
