New goal.

Hello everyone! Its been a while, I know. But I'm back on track again and that's what matters.

I set a new goal for myself, I am to run a 8.15 mile run called the Great Aloha Run here in Hawaii in February 2009. (Here's their website http://www.greataloharun.com/) I'm not a huge fan of running, but honestly I'm very excited about it. I have a little more then 3 months to train...and I need some help. Anyone got any advice or can suggest websites/books etc that I may look into that will help? Anything would be helpful because I am new to running.

Having this goal will keep me motivated, because the last few weeks I've been lacking it. Besides all that, I will be moving to California next year and so this is the last chance I will get to run that race before I leave.

Blah.

So for some reason I'm having trouble focusing in general. I don't know what it is for sure. But I've been procrastinating. I start planning out my meals on Protrack, but then I always stop short.

For the past few months I've been noticing my hair shedding more then normal. I'm only 22 this is not supposed to happen!!! Its to the point now that I have a bald spot(s). I've clogged the bathtub at least twice because of all of my hair that falls out when I wash it. I have been to my doctor and he told me so far he couldn't find any cause of it and there wasn't much he could do but refer me to another doctor. Tomorrow I'm making appointment to see a dermatologist. Hopefully then he can help me some.

I'm back! Somewhat.

Hey all...Its been a while since I blogged here. I guess you can say I'm floundering. I've been feeling a bit down these past few weeks, so I haven't been planning my meals OR working out regularly. Its been a mixture of missing my husband (currently in Iraq), being unemployed and on a budget. Not to mention the stress, I guess that's the reason, is causing me to lose my hair.

But to my surprise, I haven't gained much weight in that process. I'm currently at 145lbs last time I checked, which was on the 25th. I know I could have done better these past weeks, so I need to pick myself back up and get things in order.

I'm hungry

Haven't blogged in a while. I've been doing alright, doing cardio 6x a week and weight lifting 4x.

I ate out for the first time in 2 months last weekend. A friend and I went to Ruby Tuesdays and I ordered the baked salmon with brown rice and broccoli on the side...what I wasnt aware of that the dish was pretty much spattered with BUTTER. It was good...for a few bites before I started feeling a bit sick. Maybe my body is so used to not consuming so much butter now. (thats awesome!) So i ended up eating only about half of the fish and rice but I ate all the broccoli.

I am noticing that even with my planning my appetite has increased. I guess thats normal right? Since I'm more active now

Picture time!

I took my before photos on June 27th (a week after I joined GHF) and I took my "after" photos a month later (July 27th). I'm glad I took them because now I can see the progress I made. Its very motivating! I suggest you do the same if you haven't already! <3

<3 Potatoes

Its been a while since I blogged. Drum roll please! ***** In about 5 weeks I lost the total of 10 pounds! Thats flippn sweet! I just have to keep doing what I'm doing.

I did have a few bad episodes at night though...You see...I love potatoes. One night I ate a whole baked potato AFTER I finished my last meal. And last night I made mashed potatoes I had one serving too many...I felt so bad after too. Too many carbs at night = BAD. Plus I noticed I've been getting lazy with planning my meals out too...not good. But I have been watching my portions and following GHF guidelines.

I will update more soon enough!

Elliptical vs Treadmill

So I was watching FitTv the other day and one trainer in particular didn't like the fact that his client was using the elliptical trainer as her primary cardio equipment of choice. He discouraged her from using it even though she was more comfortable with it and recommended using the treadmill instead. His reasoning was that the ellipticals range of motion inst natural or useful in day to day activities.

I thought...wtf...really? I favor the elliptical because its pretty much no impact. I've never had a liking to the treadmill. But nonetheless I wanted to change up my routine a bit and break myself into working out on the treadmill despite my dislike of that machine. I haven't used a treadmill for longer then 10mins (in a very long time) and I was actually afraid of running on it. Silly I know. You know those videos you see of people falling on treadmills on tv or on youtube or something? YEAH well, I didn't want that to be me either.

blah

Somehow I messed up my blogs and now my old entries have all but disapeared. Oh well. Start off new again I guess.

Today I woke up late, my alarm was set to the wrong time. (damn it) So far so good though, I trained with my trainer and later tonight I'm going to do some cardio with a friend of mine.
