Well it's been over a week since i posted. My ankle hurts terribly. Discovered that I have "walked over" the edge of the thick soled Curves walking shoes that I thought were so great (because of the heel/toe action built in). My back and right wrist also hurt badly, for no particular reason. And tomorrow I have to go spend a work day at my Mom's. Since she's 81, she figures I'm young enough to still be doing yard work and painting her house. And she wants me to put in a big long day of it. She doens't realize that at 60 I can only do about 2 hours of physical labor in a day, then I'm shot. - It's depressing enough to make me want to do something serious. - Well, that plus the job suddenly getting unbearable. Too much grief and stress in my life on top of no time to worry about what's to eat, and how to manage any kind of exercise - let alone to have the desire to do it.

I did walk 1 1/2 mile Tuesday night, but Wed. night (1) priority was getting a zipper put into grandson's coat (2) I felt lazy (3) weather was gloomy. I rather suspect the same will happen tonight as I need to shorten a jacket for myself, I'm not feeling motivated at all, and it's cool & wet out. On top of that I forgot to thaw anything out to eat tonight, so I have no idea of what I will be eating. I guess I'm especially depressed because this GHF just isn't going as well as I had thought it would for me. I'm about ready to order some diet pills and see if I can just not eat most of the week.

This just isn't working for me. I simply can't find the time for exercise. And it's not that I'm sitting in front ofthe t.v. It's that I'm a Baby Boomer. That means I currently have 4 generations of family vying for my time and TLC. I NEED to be retired in order to fit it all in, but no, thanks to being told to put savings into investments, and watching them steadily go backward instead of forward - well, I'm one of the lucky ones that will probably be working 40 hours/week 'til the day I die. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!
Okay, thanks for letting me rant. Question: Which is more important, doing the cardio, which for me is walking about 1 1/2 miles or doing the core strength and flexibility workouts? Originally I thought I was going to be able to exercise more often, but every week, it seems to only end up being about 3 days that I actually fit in about 45 minutes worth.

This has really been quite the week. I'm glad it's over!
Last night I ate REALLY STUPID! Not unhealthy exactly, just an awful combination of foods that gave me an unbelievably awful stomach ache. (Well, when I THINK about what I ate, it's not so unbelievable that I got sick).
So, no exercise done. I DID get the blue room cleaned out, which helps get one thing off my mind! Also got a couple questions answered, so I don't have to feel so in limbo about this weekend. So I think I'm on my way to being back on track better.

The internet is giving me fits. NOT good, just when I was thinking online exercise over break was going to work nicely.
Tues. night I was tired, but walked 1 1/2 miles, but that was absolutely pushing myself to do. And I maybe should have listened to my body more, as yesterday and today I ache all over. My feet hurt even, all my joints feel sore and my back is completely killing me. Consequently NO exercise done last night, and probably not tonight either. If I can I'd like to do my stretching DVD tonight; but I simply have to clean out the spare bedroom. I'm afraid the bedroom will be tonight's priority.

First day back online after a holiday weekend.
I did pretty good I think. Even managed to walk a mile at the track on Monday. Did more swimming on Sat.& Sun. than I thought I would too.
Internet was down during break again today, so no online ab exercises done again. After work I have an appointment, and other things to get done - not sure if I can fit it in then or not. Plus, I'm tired and it's a grey, rainy day - the kind for taking a nap. - And deep down inside, I know the real factor in just wanting to take it easy another day is because I got some bad family news over the weekend, and my mind is preoccupied about if there is anything I can/or should help in the situation.

The good news is: I DID IT! When I got home yesterday (I don't know where the football boys were, but my track was available) I walked a whole 2 miles! In the heat. I really need to learn to take my water bottle with me.
The bad new is: Internet today is being unbearable, so I wasn't able to do my online exercises. My only other chance today will be if it gets to going & I can do them at noon.
Otherwise it's off to start on a very busy, cram-packed weekend. I do plan on getting to swim some, but doubt I'll do many continuous laps and really get a workout even there. Lots of shopping too, which does mean walking.

Sheesh! I had a long blog all typed up & it disappeared. I guess maybe I gave too much info in it anyway.
Last night I was bad - no exercise, just too drained AND ate a Snickers bar (which I shouldn't have had in the house in the 1st place). In my blog that disappeared, I analyzed WHY I ate it (which is where I probably posted too much info. LOL) But, anyhow, I did analyze it and I know what's got me under a bit of stress right now.
Having been so bad did increase my resolve for today though. I got through 10 min. of the advanced abs online over a.m. break. I have tons to get done tonight after work, so I am SCHEDULING my walking and plan to do it AS SOON as I get home, even if it is still hot out.

Mornng break - I decided to try doing the online abs exercises over break. Of course break is also when I have my 2nd meal of the day, so I had oatmeal with vanilla yogurt in it. My tummy was a little full to be doing ab exercises. I got thru 5 minutes of the Intermediate one that is about 12 minutes long. Tomorrow I need to set the a/c lower about 15 minutes before break, as I probably could have gone longer, but didn't want to work up a sweat here at work.

Wow! Maybe I'm finally getting into an "exercise as a priority" mode! After work I ran errands, then suddenly got hit with a piercing headache. My first thought was to take aspirin and lay down, but then I thought since it was cool enough to go ahead and walk, I thought maybe the exercise and fresh air would actually help more than laying down. I walked 2 miles (well it's actually more, because I do each of the 8 lanes of the track, so I can remember how many times I've gone around). And by the time I was done my headache was gone!!! Good thing too, as I had phone calls the rest of the evening and wouldn't have gotten a chance to get away later if I had waited.

Did more cleaning (several loads of stuff up and down stairs) last night. Was exhausted and didn't really want to exercise but (patting myself on the back) I put on the walking shoes and went up and walked the track again. 1 1/2 miles at pretty good pace.
yost_jay@hotmai... – Tue, 2008 – 08 – 26 09:56
Fri. night and Sat. no exercise beyond house cleaning as I decided to completely redecorate my bedroom, which included moving some of the furniture out of there and rearranging the rest. Also ate 2 (or 3) pieces of pizza and drank alot of rum and cola.
Sun. eating plan was on the detour road again, with corn on the cob (2), homemade bread, and later some tostedoes. BUT I did manage to go to the track and walk 1 1/2 miles and do 2 more hours of house-cleaning, which involved several trips up and down stairs.
Weekends my whole schedule just gets turned upside down. Staying up really late, sleeping late, being with a person that prefers to eat 2 large meals a day and usually being so busy, that 2 meals is all there's time for.

Just plum TIRED out! Ran a few errands after work and then simply crashed. Did nothing all evening except load some laundry. I guess this will have to be counted as one of my "days off" and I'll have to determine to exercise Sat. and Sun. instead. Although I'm not sure yet what all I'm going to be cramming into this weekend.
Felt like having wine again last night - 2 glasses. Got to get back out of that habit. But it's just so relaxing. I wonder if they make 0 calorie wine? If not, someone should invent it.

Busy day. Messed up on food because I was trying to go by not eating just because it's time, but when I'm hungry. Consequently I didn't get enough "meals" in and at bedtime I was starved. Ended up having a glass of wine and LC bread toasted with a carrott cake cheese ball spread on top.
I walked 2 miles, but didn't have time or energy for anything else.
yost_jay@hotmai... – Thu, 2008 – 08 – 21 10:00
Managed to do most of the 30 day shred workout. Had to rest during a good deal of the cardio. But I did more than previously.
Have eaten according to plan all day. Need to start journaling food in the ProTracker so I can see where I'm getting too many calories, because the scale hasn't budged, which is quite depressing. I feel like I have done a good job on my eating and exercising, but am not seeing the reward.
