I’m amazed at how much I can kid myself about certain things. Back in highschool I drank only water & milk (‘cept on the occasional rebel weekend when I drank beer) but, there was never any soda and I logged and kept track of most everything I ate …having that memory in my head must have made me think that I still had knowledge of the nutritional content of most foods but I’m learning otherwise. (see 2:00 p.m. slice of cheese cake for example)

Btw – I did get my veggie tray! (see 11:30 p.m. meal for details) (smile)
Also – some of the items I ate were actually healthier than indicated. I learned the quiche I ate was made with only 4 whole eggs and 6 egg whites and the no frosting cake was made with half the sugar called for in the recipe.

I have taken Rich’s advice and started logging cholesterol content along w/ the other macro-nutrients. I’ve also read up a little on the topic. My $10 word of the day is hypercholesterolemia which is the medical term for high levels of blood cholesterol. I learned cholesterol comes from two sources: your body and food. Our liver and other cells in the body make about 75 percent of blood cholesterol. The other 25 percent comes from the foods we eat. I have yet to find a recommended daily allowance for cholesterol …I’m not sure how many milligrams I should aim to keep my cholesterol levels under. My source of information is the American Heart Association. (americanheart.org)

Also – as long as I don’t stay up too much longer before going to bed, I don’t think I’ve had much more than a single pack of cigarettes today. Busy day, it’s nearly midnight and this is the first time I’ve been home for more than 15 minutes today.
And …I’m quite certain my cholesterol level is lower today than yesterday since a nice nurse named Debi siphoned off a pint of my blood. Which reminds me --- I only had three smokes before 10 a.m. because I wanted my donated blood to be in the best condition I could manage. I thought of that because I’m thinking with lower cholesterol levels then I could donate an even higher quality of blood. …as I type this, I’m a bit stunned because I just lit up a cigarette and put it in my ashtray …right next to another cigarette that I must have lit about a minute ago!
