After my last attempt at running on Monday evening, October 1st I forgot to stop my Garmin chronometer so, I can tell it's been a little over two weeks or 347 hours since I last exercised. The idea has been to reduce the stress levels on my body to zero in the hopes that my hip injury would recover as quickly as possible to help make running this weekend in Kansas City more probable.

It's kind of worked. I only had to use a cane for two days and I've gone from a sharp pain to a dull pain to simple discomfort now when I walk but, I'm not sure if cranking out 13.1 miles this Saturday is the best course of action if I'm still hurting in the hip area. Come Saturday, I might not be hurting anymore but will then have to complete the race w/o any training being done in the last couple weeks.

I did get a neat video last week from my Virgina Beach Half Marathon - if anyone is interested it's at

(I'm in the last 15 seconds dressed all in black)
It's kind of cool to see what 23,000 people look like in a race :)

I've *got* to get to the grocery store - fridge is down to apples & bottled water - cupboards are getting bare and I find myself eating things I picked up for Thanksgiving last year like boxes of Stove Top stuffing & cans of cranberry sauce - 5 dozen hard boiled eggs (whites only) have been depleted as well. I seem to eat better overall when I'm exercising - more at the front of my mind I suppose.

I liked the idea of October Objectives (probably because of the alliteration) but wasn't sure what to put since I've been temporarily side-lined. ...thinking about Novemeber and December Objectives though - I'll need some strong months leading into the full marathon in January.
I've got a basic structure of goals below that I want to achieve in the remaining months of the year. There are a few goals which aren't traditionally connected with fitness (maybe spiritual fitness?) but, I have no other compendium where I track & set my goals so, please bear with me. :)
