I'm just curious ...
I've read before that for a relationship to be viable in the long term that there needs to be 6 positive things for every negative. I really don't know how accurate that is or any details behind the study but it would make sense that the good should probably outweigh the bad and if there were more negatives than positives that the relationship would eventually deteriorate and desist. (at least in a healthy relationship - i would hope)
But, that got me to thinking about our relationships with working out. Do we have 6 good things for every negative thing regarding the healthy active lifestyles we're trying to pursue? or is it closer to 1-1 or are we running in the red?
The whole notion of working out is kind of like using a credit card in reverse. Instead of getting the goods up front and *then* making payments ---we've got to make *our* payments up front and ...with a great enough intensity, in terms of days per week otherwise our penalty is pushing that elusive goal out further and further. What are all the positive things we get out of working out - If we're not feeling enough of these positive things then will we eventually end up sabotaging ourselves?
A few years back, in a seminar down in Miami, I heard a statement ...something to the effect that the benefits of achieving our dream or goal has to be more real to us then the fear that may be associated with the actions necessary to realizing that goal.
How real does the concept of a tight, lean body feel to us? If an improved picture of health isn't clearly set in our mind then what can we do in order to develop one?
Just some stuff I was thinking about in my car yesterday.
Other than those thoughts, my blog is pretty status quo - Wii, salads, turkey sandwiches - no eating after 9 ...I just made a type when writing sandwich - I called 'em sandwishes - maybe I'll try to remember that and with each bite of the sandwish I'll be reminded to think of the future and the way I want to be. I guess there are worse things to think about :)
