Thursday, Sept 25th Workout
Treadmill 3.1 miles, 60m55s, 493kcal

My disdain for rush hour traffic is proving to be very beneficial to my health because I cranked out another 5k after class today! :)

I even shaved 13 minutes of my current best and completed the 3.1 miles in 61 minutes! ;)
(no walking backwards at 0.5 mph today)

Maybe next week I'll break that one hour barrier ;)

I think one of the best parts about the walk was my behavior afterwards.

I haven't been getting meals in during the mornings before class so by the time I was done with my walk I was really hungry. For some reason - good quantities of exercise helps me crave healthy type foods so I bought two vegetable trays and some protein bars on the way home. (I know Julia likes the carbs & proteins mixed) :)

I ate one protein bar (w/ 30 grams of protein) then snacked on that vegetable tray on my way home.

Economics did play a factor in the protein bars I bought but I think I got a fairly decent bar. They were 15 to a pack with three different varieties. Here's the breakdown of the one I had today

Calories 290
Total Fat 9g
Cholesterol 15mg
Sodium 470mg
Potassium 230 mg
Total Carbohydrate 23g
Dietary Fiber 1g
Sugars 9g
Protein 30g

at just over 80 cents a bar it seemed like a pretty generous amount of protein - maybe a little high in sodium but after an hour on the treadmill, maybe that's not so bad and the 9g of sugar didn't seem too outrageous.
What do you think? Worth buying again or should I keep looking?

The bar is by Premier Nutrition and simply says "protein chocolate peanut butter" on the label
