SOME IMPORTANT Q&A's

I don't want to bulk up. I just want to lose weight.
Why should I add more muscle?

Not everybody will want the same results I got. But the bottom line is muscle burns fat. It's that simple. Muscle gain also improves your appearance and your athletic performance through better stamina and agility. I've never known a nutrition program to help promote fat loss as well as muscle gain at the same time – until now.

I'm not talking about getting big and bulky, although you may well experience more muscle definition like I did. I'm talking about a diet plan that helps you gain strength and great muscle tone as well as improve muscle endurance. And because this added muscle improves your metabolism, it ensures that the results you achieve are long-term, not just temporary.

What about high-protein diets?
Isn't it the carbs that are making me fat?

Good question. Because of the popularity of low-carb diets, carbohydrates in general have gotten a bad rap and many people believe they are fattening. This simply is not true! Carbohydrates are not fattening as long as you eat the right kind and you don't eat too many. However, it is true that a reduction in carbs and an increase in protein can create effective hormonal and metabolic advantages for fat loss.

It's also true that some people don't respond well to the conventional high-carb, low-fat diet. These people are often carbohydrate-sensitive and insulin-resistant. This means that they release more insulin than normal when they consume carbohydrate foods and thus do not release stored body fat as readily. In addition, they are more likely to store free fatty acids into adipose (fat) tissue. The result is that even on a low-fat, low-calorie diet combined with regular exercise, they still have a difficult time losing body fat if they eat a lot of carbohydrates.

Reducing carbohydrates and increasing protein can give you a metabolic advantage: the high protein in these diets speeds up your metabolism because of its thermogenic effect. This means that protein foods speed up your metabolism because your body has to work harder to digest, process, and utilize this nutrient as compared to fat or carbohydrates. While too much of any food will be stored as body fat, protein is less likely to be converted to fat than carbs or fats.

Decreasing your carbohydrates from the traditional recommendation of 50-60% of your total calories to 40%-50% of your total calories may help you lose fat more quickly, but under no circumstances should you ever remove all or even most of the carbohydrates from your diet.
