"I came across the Global Health & Fitness website late in April of 2001. I determined right then and there to take advantage of what was a well thought out and comprehensive website that would be able to guide me through an exercise and fitness program I could live with; a planned "recipe" for success.
My goal was to shrink! I wanted my clothing to fit me again and to get rid of the thick layer of body fat that seemed to just start "creating" on my frame. I jumped into this great program because I needed the motivation that I knew the contest would provide.
It worked! In 12 weeks, I didn't miss even one workout. Dani put me on Phase 3, 4day/week Intermediate program. I was able to really get into the workouts because they were so varied each time I went to the gym; I did at least 30 minutes of cardio along with my strength training program. The "regulars" at the gym started asking me where I got my program, and of course, I directed them to the Global Health & Fitness website.
When I started the program 12 weeks ago, my one rep max for the leg press was 360lbs, and my 10 rep max for one leg was 90lbs. At the end of the program, my one rep max for the leg press was 540lbs and my 10-rep max for one leg was 230lbs. I was REALLY surprised that I had gained that much strength in my lower body, in such a short period of time.
One of the best parts of getting more healthy and fit is the journey you take. You can see your body change and you "feel" stronger. Though I've gained major strength in my lower body, my arms and upper body actually show it more. My son told me recently, 'Mom! You've got some pretty awesome guns!' That was quite a compliment coming from a 13 yr. old! That really made my day!
I still have a ways to go to reach my ultimate fitness goals. However, for being on this program for only 12 weeks with the results that I've gotten so far, I'm quite pleased and will work to advance through the subsequent 12 week programs. Chad Tackett, Dani Myers and other experts of the GHF staff guided me through the entire program by answering my many questions and helping me stay motivated. They always got back to me usually within hours of my e-mails and this encouraged me to stay on task.
This is a lifetime process. I truly believe that all my fitness goals will become a reality over the next year. Thanks Chad, Dani, and all experts of the GHF staff that have been instrumental in my success. I really appreciate you all providing such a wonderful resource for us all!"
