"I thought it was about time that I updated you folks on my progress with Global Health and Fitness. I could not be more thrilled with the results that I have obtained up to this point and look forward to continued success.
Last September I knew I would soon reach my 50th birthday and had reached 254 pounds. I was taking two kinds of high blood pressure medicine, had mild heart disease, was taking cholesterol medicine and felt sick and tired all the time. I decided I needed to change my ways to live my life with my family, so I made up my mind to lose weight.
After consulting my doctor I began reducing what I was eating. This worked fine for a couple months since I had so much excess fat to lose (about 38%BF), but soon I hit a brick wall for any more weight loss. I had gone from 254 pounds in mid September to 220 pounds in mid December! I was thrilled with this weight loss, but knew I could do better if I could figure out what was limiting me. I went online looking for a better way to lose weight and soon found Global Health and Fitness. The more I read on the site, the more impressed I was. I decided I would join and give it a try, since the fee is so reasonable. I soon received a customized weightlifting routine and found tons of information on the site about proper nutrition. The volume of useful information seems to be endless, but is easy to understand and follow.
My doctor was impressed with the weight I had lost to that point so he gave me the green light to begin an exercise program. My exercise program started slow reflecting my health concerns. At first the weights were a bit of a challenge since my old doctor had limited me to lifting 40 pounds, but it soon began to get much easier. When I began I could do 120 pound leg presses and bench press about 75 pounds but now 440 pound leg presses and 175 pound bench presses seem easy. I find the exercise groupings very helpful. I use them in the ProTrack software for tracking. I just print out a workout sheet and take it with me to do my sessions. The exercises never get boring since there is such a variety of them in the program. If I can't remember how to do it, I just look at the video for it or read the description. The newest 2005 version is even better than previous versions.
Following the nutrition advice on the site helped me maintain my energy levels, and soon with the diet and exercise the energy actually increased. Chad recommended walking for cardio exercise. I soon wore out my old treadmill and had to replace it with a new one. I've gone from a slow 1-mile walk twice a week to a brisk 6-mile walk every day, more this past summer. Now that cooler weather has set in, I use the stationary bike for an hour or so also.
Over the last few months my motivation has increased greatly as I soon began to see results again in more weight loss and greater muscle tone, along with feeling 1000% percent better. I have eliminated my BP medicine and have maintained a reading of 120/70. As an extra benefit to decreasing the medicine, I am able to elevate my heart rate to better level while working out (BP medicine suppresses the HR to under 90 for me).
To date since starting with GHF, my weight has gone from 220 to 167 lbs and my BF has gone from the mid twenties to just below 10%. The only problems I have had so far are the need to replace all my clothes several times and to look at some excess skin where I was so huge before. By maintaining good nutrition as in the program, that skin is even shrinking back. After all, my waist has gone from 50 inches last September to 31inches now!! Before beginning I didn't have the energy for my 12 and 14 year old boys, now they can't even begin to keep up with old Dad. I also love hearing people ask where the other half of me went, or they seem to have found the weight I lost (on their waist).
I look forward to continuing the program and maintaining my new way of life. It has made many of the aspects of my life easier and more enjoyable. Thank you so much Chad and everyone at Global Health and Fitness!!"
